If you’ve ever owned a bird, you know that they can be delightful little creatures. But, like any pet, they need to be kept entertained – or else they can get pretty bored. Bored birds are often the ones who start feather-picking or engage in other destructive behaviours. So, what can you do to make sure your feathered friend stays happy and healthy? Here are a few ideas.

First and foremost, make sure your bird has a tall cage with plenty of horizontal space to move around in. Place the cage in an area of the house that gets a lot of foot traffic so your bird doesn’t feel isolated. Put a variety of toys in the cage, including some that encourage chewing (birds love to chew!) and some that encourage preening (birds also love to preen their feathers). And, don’t forget to give your bird some time out of the cage each day so it can stretch its wings and explore!

Another great way to keep your bird entertained is to teach it some tricks. Birds are actually quite intelligent and can learn to do all sorts of things, from simple tricks like stepping up onto your finger to more complex tricks like playing fetch. Not only is this a great way to bond with your bird, but it’ll also give your feathered friend something fun to do.

Birds are wonderful pets, but they do require some effort on your part to keep them happy and healthy. By giving them a spacious cage in a high-traffic area of the house, filling their cage with a variety of toys, and giving them time out of the cage each day, you’ll go a long way towards keeping your feathered friend entertained. And, if you really want to Bond with your bird, try teaching it some tricks – they’re smarter than you think!
