Why more and more families are choosing to adopt dogs instead of having children

American Water Spaniel Dogs are the new kids:

In recent years, there has been a shift in what many people consider to be a “traditional” family. More and more couples are choosing not to have children, and opting for pets instead. There are several reasons why this trend is becoming more and more popular.

The Cost of Having Children

One of the biggest reasons why couples are choosing dogs over children is the cost. There’s no denying that having kids is expensive. From the moment they’re born, children require a never-ending stream of supplies, clothes, food, and medical care. According to a report from CNBC, the average cost of raising a child from birth through age 17 is a staggering $233,610. And that’s not even taking into account the cost of college! For many couples, the simple fact that they can’t afford to have children is enough to convince them to get a dog instead.

The Freedom to Travel

Another reason why dogs are becoming the new kids is because they offer couples the freedom to travel without worry or guilt. When you have human children, it’s not as easy to just pick up and go on a whim. You have to make sure that your child’s school schedule won’t be impacted, arrange for childcare, and juggle a million other things before you can even think about packing your bags. But with a dog, all you need is a set of car keys and you’re good to go! Dogs don’t need babysitters or boarding—they’re happy to tag along on any adventure you want to take them on.

Dogs fit into today’s fast-paced lifestyle

In today’s world, it seems like everyone is always on the go. Between work commitments, social obligations, and taking care of everyday tasks like cooking and cleaning, there’s barely any time left for anything else. For many people, the thought of adding another thing to their already full plate is simply too much to handle. But with a dog, you don’t have to worry about things like after-school activities or homework—all they need is plenty of love (and walks!) And at the end of a long day, coming home to an enthusiastic pup who’s just happy to see you can be incredibly rewarding.

Whether it’s because of the cost or because they offer more freedom than human children, dogs are quickly becoming the new kids in families all across America. And judging by how popular they are, it doesn’t seem like this trend is going anywhere anytime soon!
